ARISE successfully conducted five(5) community interaction meetings with community members. It conducted QPR (Question, Persuade, & Refer) training for three (3) different age groups . The training was conducted by Mr. Bhuwan Gautam from Bhutanese community of Springfield, MA, who is bilingual/bi-cultural (Nepali/Bhutanese) and had an excellent rapport with the trainees. In total, 43 gatekeepers were trained and certified as gatekeepers. They appreciated the program and requested for more in-depth training on suicide prevention and mental health.
ARISE fulfilled its proposal to create a Nepali language reference guide of healthcare providers in Worcester. These guides were distributed within the Bhutanese community. We would continue to out reach organizations like Bhutanese community of Massachusetts and groups like Bhutanese Bhajan Mandali, and Bhutanese Church group and continue to maintain interaction with the gatekeepers.
